Base Salary

$200k - $288k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Own medium-sized billing platform projects from design through launch and operation.
  • Build federated distributed systems for usage metering, rating, invoicing, payments, and reporting across Snowflake services.
  • Help shape pricing and billing strategy for AI products, including token-based inference, agent workflows, and AI-native subscriptions.
  • Use Cortex Code CLI and Snowflake Intelligence for development, code review, debugging, and on-call triage.
  • Own reliability and correctness through on-call participation, production debugging, monitoring improvements, alerting, and systemic fixes.
  • Become a subject-matter expert in billing components such as metering, rating, invoicing, contracts, payments, threshold billing, fraud, or reporting.
  • Partner with Product, Finance, GTM Systems, Growth, Trust, Legal, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into reliable and auditable systems.
  • Mentor other engineers and contribute to large, multi-team engineering initiatives.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience building and supporting large-scale production distributed systems.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong knowledge of distributed systems concepts including consistency, fault tolerance, idempotency, exactly-once processing, queueing, and stream/batch data pipelines.
  • Strong database and data-modeling fundamentals, including SQL, schema design, and performance tuning.
  • Proficiency in one or more of Java, Scala, Python, or Go.
  • Experience with engineering practices for operating systems at scale, including testing, observability, CI/CD, and incremental rollout.
  • Ability to independently design, specify, schedule, and deliver medium-sized projects and contribute to larger multi-team efforts.
  • Track record of owning reliability, participating in on-call, debugging production issues, and driving systemic fixes.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across engineering and non-engineering stakeholders.
  • Hands-on experience using AI as a builder’s tool and interest in commercial models for AI products.
  • Preferred experience with billing, payments, metering, revenue, financial systems, fraud detection, abuse mitigation, trust and safety, AI/ML pricing models, Snowflake or comparable cloud data platforms, or internal AI developer-productivity tooling.
