Base Salary

$155k - $208k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design and build automated reliability and self-healing systems, including automated rollbacks, deployment safeguards, and fault mitigation.
  • Own and improve incident-management tooling and on-call health by reducing alert noise and surfacing actionable signals.
  • Develop observability infrastructure covering monitoring, alerting, SLOs, and performance-regression detection.
  • Build AI-driven operational tooling toward autonomous issue detection, corrective action, and self-recovery.
  • Identify systemic incident patterns and eliminate operational toil.
  • Partner with product engineering teams to diagnose reliability gaps and adopt service-operation best practices.
  • Define and champion operational-excellence practices through guardrails, scorecards, and engineering standards.
  • Champion Samsara’s cultural principles and help scale inclusive, high-performing engineering practices.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience designing and building products on software engineering teams.
  • At least 3 years of experience on infrastructure- or platform-engineering-focused teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Expertise in observability, reliability, operational metrics, and data analysis.
  • Experience architecting monitoring frameworks, SLO platforms, and automated response workflows, including Datadog or equivalent tooling such as New Relic or Grafana.
  • Experience with large-scale enterprise software applications and Developer Experience/internal portals.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.
  • Experience implementing AI-driven automation across the software development lifecycle and routinely applying AI tools in the workflow.
  • Experience writing high-quality infrastructure, deployment, and operations code in Go, Python, or an equivalent language.
  • Experience mentoring and supporting engineers and modeling engineering practices in a technical lead capacity.
  • Strong communication and cross-team collaboration skills.
  • Experience with incident-management tooling such as Incident.io or PagerDuty.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
