Responsibilities
- Design and build Java/Spring Boot microservices and REST APIs for trade processing, accounting, reconciliation, and settlement.
- Develop Kafka and IBM MQ event-driven integrations with message design, error handling, retries, and idempotency.
- Implement efficient Oracle and SQL data access using JPA/Hibernate and collaborate on schema and performance design.
- Modernize legacy business logic into clean, testable services and confirm behavior with business analysts and subject-matter experts.
- Build and maintain React/TypeScript front ends for enterprise applications and connect them to backend APIs.
- Write unit, integration, contract, performance, resilience, and component tests.
- Build and deploy services on AWS and support scalability, availability, security, observability, releases, cutovers, and early-life production support.
- Work with DevOps on Terraform, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Use GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Devin, or similar AI tools for development while reviewing all generated code for correctness, security, performance, and license compliance.
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, agile ceremonies, and knowledge sharing around prompts, agent instructions, and AI-assisted development.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of software development experience, primarily focused on backend development.
- Strong experience with Java, Spring Boot, Spring Data/JPA, REST API design, and multithreading.
- Practical experience with Kafka and/or IBM MQ.
- Hands-on AWS experience with services including ECS/EKS or Lambda, S3, SQS/SNS, RDS, IAM, and CloudWatch.
- Strong SQL skills and experience with Oracle or another enterprise relational database.
- Working knowledge of React hooks, component design, TypeScript, and modern JavaScript.
- Professional experience regularly using at least one of GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or Devin, including evaluating when AI output is incorrect.
- Experience with Git, CI/CD, Docker, automated testing, JUnit, Mockito, and clean code practices.
- Experience working in agile delivery teams.
- Preferred: experience with all three AI tools, MCP servers, Jira, Confluence, financial services, legacy modernization, Java EE/EJB, Payara, WebSphere, Sybase, Terraform, infrastructure-as-code, and AWS Developer Associate or Solutions Architect certification.
