Base Salary
$210k - $240k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own major areas of backend architecture, including APIs, distributed systems, data models, infrastructure, and core business logic
- Design, build, test, deploy, and iterate on reliable, scalable, and maintainable production systems
- Use AI-assisted tools to accelerate development, debugging, testing, documentation, and operational efficiency
- Identify opportunities to integrate AI into internal engineering systems and customer-facing platform capabilities
- Architect systems that support increasing scale, complexity, and evolving customer workflows
- Define and implement testing, observability, and operational practices that improve resilience and developer velocity
- Build scalable abstractions, internal frameworks, and platform capabilities for faster product development
- Drive technical direction and long-term architectural decisions around performance, security, scalability, and platform evolution
- Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar for backend engineering and system design
Requirements
- 8+ years of backend or full-stack engineering experience, ideally in SaaS or high-scale distributed systems environments
- Proven experience designing, scaling, and operating complex backend systems from early-stage growth through maturity
- Deep expertise in distributed systems, APIs, data modeling, infrastructure, and backend architecture patterns
- Strong proficiency with modern AI engineering workflows and tooling
- Experience building secure, observable, and fault-tolerant production systems
- Ability to balance rapid iteration with long-term reliability and maintainability
- Collaborative and pragmatic approach across engineering, product, infrastructure, and data teams
- Adaptability and sound engineering judgment; specific frameworks or languages are not required
