Base Salary
$190k - $230k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own infrastructure topology, scaling and blast-radius boundaries, deployment graphs, database ownership boundaries, and cost ceilings.
- Build validation gates, idempotency checks, drift detectors, and runbooks that make human- and agent-operated changes safe.
- Diagnose novel failures such as consumer lag, dead-letter queues, materialized-view chains, and consent-ordering issues, then create runbooks for them.
- Own the 500K events-per-second capacity target through load testing, Karpenter and HPA tuning, database sizing, SLOs, and alerting.
- Manage IAM/IRSA, secret rotation, authentication chains, and permissions for the agent and MCP surface.
- Keep agent skills, runbooks, and context synchronized with production reality.
- Lead incidents and record fixes as new runbooks with regression tests.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience operating production Kubernetes and AWS cloud infrastructure at scale.
- Strong Terraform and GitOps/Kustomize experience with a focus on idempotent, automated, and self-verifying operations.
- Real incident-response experience with distributed-systems failures involving databases, streaming, consumer lag, and data integrity.
- Fluency with Postgres, columnar data stores, and log or streaming buses under load.
- Comfort working alongside AI agents by designing guardrails, runbooks, checks, and human-in-the-loop controls.
- Ability to own infrastructure design, reliability, capacity, cost, security, secrets, and incident leadership.
