Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain backend distributed systems and services supporting search functionality.
- Implement and improve search and AI-related capabilities, including indexing, retrieval, and ranking logic.
- Integrate search and AI-driven features across the Seismic platform with engineering, AI, and product teams.
- Monitor and tune performance, identify routine bottlenecks, and improve query latency, scalability, and reliability.
- Collaborate with product managers, frontend engineers, UX designers, and geographically distributed teams.
- Learn and apply tools and best practices related to search, backend development, and AI systems.
Requirements
- 4 to 11 years of experience in software engineering, including experience contributing to frontend or UI-focused web applications.
- Experience with HTML, CSS, modern JavaScript, React, functional components, hooks, state management patterns, and TypeScript.
- Experience integrating frontend applications with REST or GraphQL APIs and using automated frontend testing practices.
- Familiarity with CSS Modules, styled-components, Tailwind, or similar modern CSS approaches.
- Experience using Git and collaborating through pull requests, with familiarity with GitHub Actions and frontend pipelines.
- Exposure to frontend performance optimization, accessibility standards such as WCAG, and design systems or component libraries is beneficial.
- Full-stack experience with C#, Node.js, or Python is a plus.
- Exposure to AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure and familiarity with cloud-native storage, compute, and monitoring services.
- Kubernetes experience, search or information retrieval exposure, and familiarity with Elasticsearch or Apache Solr are beneficial.
- Familiarity with RAG, generative AI, conversational AI, agents, LLMs, text processing, or semantic search is beneficial.
- Experience with SaaS applications, distributed systems, cloud operations, and cross-functional product development.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Ability to collaborate across regions, including with the China team and across time zones; Scrum and JIRA experience is a plus.
