Responsibilities
- Partner with asset leadership, subsurface, wells, operations, and customer success teams to identify AI opportunities with operational or economic value.
- Translate ambiguous business challenges into actionable digital and AI solution opportunities.
- Apply subsurface and wells expertise to guide model design, outputs, usability, and workflow alignment.
- Develop and deploy generative AI solutions, including custom code and workflows.
- Build agentic AI systems for task automation and semi-autonomous decision support.
- Implement advanced analytics solutions involving data ingestion, pattern recognition, and predictive insights.
- Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and platform teams to deliver robust, production-ready solutions.
- Deploy solutions within operating assets and drive adoption through training, change management, and iterative refinement.
- Identify reusable components, contribute to frameworks and libraries, and scale successful solutions across assets.
- Ensure solutions meet standards for data governance, security, responsible AI, reliability, scalability, and human oversight.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; a master’s or PhD in geoscience, petroleum engineering, reservoir engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Extensive upstream oil and gas industry experience is preferred.
- Deep expertise in petrophysics, formation evaluation, production engineering, or production technology is required; other subsurface and wells disciplines may be considered.
- Proven experience developing, implementing, or deploying agentic AI and generative AI solutions.
- Strong proficiency in Python and AI/ML solution development.
- Hands-on experience building LLM applications and agentic systems, including evaluating their outputs.
- Regular use of AI coding assistants and agents.
- Experience with data analytics, statistics, or visualization tools such as Databricks, Plotly Dash, and Spotfire.
- Knowledge of data pipelines, solution architecture, and deployment best practices.
- Proven experience delivering production-ready solutions.
- A track record of driving technology innovation and adoption, supported by strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.
