Responsibilities
- Review and analyze software requirements, architecture, and interface documentation and recommend improvements.
- Design, develop, implement, maintain, and enhance complex software applications, modules, and services.
- Translate user and business requirements into functional and technical software solutions.
- Develop scalable, secure, maintainable code and conduct code reviews against software engineering standards.
- Debug and resolve complex software defects and technical issues across development, testing, and production environments.
- Design and execute unit, integration, and system testing for functionality, performance, and reliability.
- Collaborate with architects, QA analysts, project managers, and other technical stakeholders.
- Prepare technical documentation including design documents, test plans, user guides, administrator guides, and release notes.
- Support software deployment, configuration, maintenance, version control, and CI/CD processes.
- Ensure compliance with security, privacy, regulatory, and software development requirements.
- Research emerging technologies and contribute to improvements in development processes, tools, standards, and system capabilities.
- Provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing to other development team members.
Requirements
- A minimum of 10 years of demonstrated professional experience as a programmer, software developer, software engineer, or in a similar software development role.
- Demonstrated experience performing at least six core software development responsibilities associated with the position.
- Extensive experience analyzing requirements, architecture, and interface documentation and developing and maintaining software applications, modules, or services.
- Strong hands-on programming experience with modern programming languages, frameworks, and development tools.
- Experience with code reviews, software engineering standards, defect resolution, unit/integration/system testing, technical documentation, version control, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of secure software development principles and security and privacy considerations.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex technical problems and recommend practical, scalable, and maintainable solutions.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Must currently hold or be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret (Level II) Canadian Federal Government Security clearance, VCRs, and Controlled Goods clearances.
- Consultants must hold a Controlled Goods clearance and insurance.
