Responsibilities
- Own the health, uptime, and resolution of issues affecting deployed imaging systems.
- Develop and extend reliable, observable, maintainable production services for edge-compute devices.
- Diagnose and resolve issues across software, firmware, networking, and hardware boundaries.
- Support field operators and non-technical users with deployed hardware issues.
- Serve as a technical representative and subject matter expert during external product and customer integrations.
- Build broad understanding across hardware, firmware, networking, and software to improve system behavior and graceful degradation.
- Collaborate with firmware, hardware, and platform engineers to plan, build, and test complex functionality.
Requirements
- 3+ years of software development experience with meaningful production ownership.
- Deep proficiency in at least one of C++, TypeScript with Node.js/React, or Python, plus the ability to work across a second language.
- 3+ years working in Linux-based environments, including hands-on bare-metal hardware experience.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve issues across networking, services, and hardware interactions.
- Ability to ramp quickly into unfamiliar languages, tools, and deployment systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including explaining technical issues to field operators and other non-technical audiences.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret clearance.
- Preferred: experience with performance-sensitive, real-time, resource-constrained, edge, or embedded systems.
- Preferred: experience with gRPC or similar RPC frameworks, systemd service management, and Linux observability practices.
- Preferred: familiarity with Nix or NixOS and experience supporting fielded or deployed systems.
- Preferred: experience with imaging, EO/IR, ISR, or command-and-control systems.
