Responsibilities
- Design, develop, execute, and troubleshoot secure, scalable software solutions.
- Develop and enhance Java backend services for high-volume transaction processing.
- Build and operate distributed solutions using AWS services including Aurora Postgres, ECS/Fargate, and EC2.
- Participate in solution design, architecture collaboration, and technical design reviews.
- Use approved AI-assisted coding tools to improve development efficiency, testing, documentation, and code quality while validating generated outputs.
- Apply code reviews, automated testing, observability, documentation, and other strong engineering practices.
- Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical deliverables.
- Apply secure coding practices and support security, compliance, resiliency, and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 3+ years of applied experience.
- Demonstrated Java backend development experience, including object-oriented design and common design patterns.
- Experience with AWS, distributed services, and services such as Aurora Postgres, ECS/Fargate, Glue, and/or Airflow.
- Hands-on experience with system design, application development, testing, debugging, maintenance, and operational stability.
- Experience developing in a large corporate environment using modern programming languages and database querying languages.
- Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools and critically evaluating, validating, and refining their outputs.
- Understanding of responsible AI use, data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, resiliency, and security expectations.
- Knowledge of the software development life cycle and agile engineering practices.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, collaboration, attention-to-detail, and learning skills.
- Financial services or connected commerce experience is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, modern front-end technologies, and cloud technologies is preferred.
