Base Salary
$150k - $200k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design on-call rotations, incident roles and communications, blameless postmortems, and effective change-management practices.
- Shape the platform roadmap by identifying reliability problems, proposing solutions, and owning them through adoption.
- Build and operate observability, CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and incident-response capabilities.
- Work with product engineers to improve service operability and raise the team’s operational literacy.
- Define initial SLOs with product and engineering stakeholders based on patient and customer needs.
- Investigate incidents and recurring operational pain, applying code or process changes as appropriate.
- Support compliance and security practices for health data, including audit trails, access controls, and environment isolation.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in SRE, platform, DevOps, or backend roles with meaningful production ownership.
- Experience carrying a pager, owning services through real incidents, and improving systems afterward.
- Comfort with at least one general-purpose language such as Python, Go, or TypeScript, plus willingness to modify application code when needed.
- A track record of identifying and solving problems, with measurable outcomes.
- Experience improving engineering processes such as review workflows, on-call structures, or postmortem practices.
- Strong collaboration, written communication, stakeholder engagement, and self-direction.
- Preferred experience in regulated environments such as healthcare or fintech, including HIPAA, SOC 2, or similar frameworks.
- Preferred experience as an early or first infrastructure or reliability hire and introducing reliability practices to teams without them.
