Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, enhance, and review software solutions and data analysis tools that enable scientific insight.
- Design and implement cloud-based data products and applications supporting data exchange, visualization, statistical analysis, and reporting.
- Translate product requirements into software architectures, engineering tasks, and maintainable solutions.
- Collaborate with scientists, subject matter experts, product owners, engineers, developers, and management to define workflows and features.
- Own projects end to end from design and backlog collaboration through development, production, and support.
- Provide code reviews and training for internal developers and external consulting teams.
- Improve engineering practices, tools, quality, and delivery speed across the organization.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Chemical Engineering, or another field with substantial computer science training, or equivalent skills acquired through professional experience.
- At least 5 years of experience developing software, preferably with a scientific or data focus.
- Strong understanding of at least two modern software development languages, preferably Python and JavaScript or TypeScript.
- At least 5 years of experience delivering products using relevant application, cloud, data, testing, and orchestration technologies.
- Strong understanding of computer architecture and software architecture in cloud environments.
- Exceptional problem-solving, collaboration, interpersonal, customer-focus, and requirements-gathering skills.
- Preferred qualifications include at least 2 years in a pharmaceutical or other regulated environment, experience with Agile methodologies such as Scrum, and experience building APIs with REST, FastAPI, and AWS Glue.
