Staff Software Engineer
Toast, Inc.Responsibilities
- Design, build, deploy, and maintain highly resilient and scalable features for Toast’s enterprise management products.
- Lead complex projects that improve product functionality and customer reliability.
- Build backend services and APIs that scale distributed systems.
- Develop automated tests to ensure software quality.
- Roll out features to customers and monitor their success.
- Collaborate with UX, Product Management, and cross-functional engineering teams on feature definition and design.
- Mentor and coach other engineers.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience building backend services and APIs.
- Extensive experience with an object-oriented language such as Java or Kotlin, with a strong understanding of testing, quality, and engineering best practices.
- Experience shipping production services and balancing delivery speed with platform stability and reliability.
- Experience building backend services and APIs and scaling distributed systems.
- Android application development with Kotlin is a plus.
- Strong customer focus, teamwork, and cross-team communication skills on complex technical topics.
