Principal Software Engineer
Toast, Inc.Responsibilities
- Gain deep expertise in Toast’s payments ecosystem and support reliable payment acceptance and processing across the fintech portfolio.
- Architect resilient, high-scale, mission-critical payment platform components.
- Design, build, deploy, and maintain scalable features across Toast’s International line of products.
- Lead complex initiatives spanning multiple teams and systems.
- Collaborate with product managers, solutions engineers, QA, UX, and other stakeholders to deliver high-value solutions.
- Drive high-quality technical decisions and team output while championing software development and CI/CD best practices.
- Mentor and coach engineers and help hire and develop a diverse team.
- Champion AI tools and practices that improve development velocity and engineering effectiveness.
Requirements
- 12+ years of experience defining and implementing high-scale SaaS solutions.
- At least 10 years of experience in the payments industry and experience building payments and fintech products.
- Hands-on experience building fault-tolerant, highly scalable, and secure distributed systems.
- Proficiency with SQL and NoSQL databases, distributed data stores, and selecting appropriate persistence technologies.
- Strong foundations in data structures and algorithms.
- Experience building partnerships across engineering, product, customer success, and other stakeholder groups.
- Experience delivering iterative value using agile or lean software delivery methods.
- Ability to tackle complex and ambiguous problems, communicate clearly, and share knowledge across teams.
