Base Salary
$250k - $350k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own complete vertical slices of cross-team and platform-level work, including multi-quarter migrations, deprecations, and architectural pivots.
- Set the technical bar for architecture and design, identify architectural drift, and establish reusable engineering patterns.
- Identify and evaluate platform opportunities, architectures, tools, and capabilities, driving decisions through evidence, alternatives, and tradeoffs.
- Define SLOs and observability, share on-call ownership, and lead rearchitecture and migration of legacy or high-debt systems.
- Drive adoption of agentic AI-assisted development through internal tooling, workflows, and AI-native engineering standards.
- Engage customers and partners during incidents, design reviews, and major rollouts to validate outcomes.
- Mentor Senior Engineers through code review, design partnership, and direct coaching.
- Influence engineering practices across teams through architecture standards, operational excellence, AI strategy, written guidance, working examples, and direct involvement in difficult problems.
Requirements
- Track record of owning multiple cross-team or platform-level initiatives from ambiguous beginnings through long-term operation.
- Deep technical foundations across distributed systems, data infrastructure, and service architecture, including failure-mode analysis and architectural judgment.
- Experience owning complex systems through design, rollout, observability, on-call, migration paths, deprecations, and long-term operation.
- Track record of identifying, evaluating, and driving significant technical investments in platform capability, reliability, or the technology stack.
- Demonstrable depth with agentic coding tools, context-engineered environments, AI-augmented workflows, custom agents, or AI-native team tooling.
- Track record of mentoring and coaching Senior Engineers to higher levels of judgment and impact.
- Strong customer and product orientation, with the ability to engage customers, partners, or downstream consumers before and after shipping.
- Clear written communication through design documents, reviews, and post-release writeups.
- Demonstrated influence across team boundaries through technical credibility rather than positional authority.
- Preferred: experience defining organization-wide AI adoption strategy and measuring its impact.
- Preferred: healthcare technology, HIPAA-regulated environments, or other regulated-data experience.
- Preferred: experience incubating product directions or greenfield platform capabilities from ambiguous starting points.
- Preferred: speaking, writing, or open-source work demonstrating broader technical influence.
