Responsibilities
- Set iOS technical direction across several mobile teams and work across product, backend, platform, QA, Android, and other mobile disciplines.
- Define mobile architecture, modularisation, contribution models, ownership rules, review standards, and shared-code practices.
- Plan and lead Swift 6 strict-concurrency adoption across a large mixed codebase using async/await, actors, Sendable, structured concurrency, and cancellation.
- Guide UIKit and SwiftUI usage and incremental migration between the two frameworks.
- Create and circulate ADRs, RFCs, technical proposals, roadmaps, and costed plans for Apple-platform deadlines and technical-debt remediation.
- Define quality gates, testing policy, coverage and performance standards, static-analysis requirements, and binary-size budgets.
- Support CI/CD and release automation across GitLab CI, Fastlane, TestFlight, multi-market, and multi-scheme pipelines.
- Shape macOS CI infrastructure, including runner provisioning, Xcode versions, simulator runtimes, signing, certificates, and fleet reproducibility.
- Establish scalable test strategy, including unit, snapshot, UI, accessibility, and flaky-test control practices.
- Improve observability through crash reporting, MetricKit, cold-start monitoring, and time-to-home budgets.
- Guide reusable design-system components and accessibility compliance, including appearance, orientation, adaptive-layout, iPad, foldable, and resizable-window support.
- Evaluate and govern AI-assisted engineering practices, including verification rules and return-on-investment measurement for AI-generated code.
- Mentor senior engineers, mediate technical disagreements, build consensus without line authority, and review for standards, performance, and security.
Requirements
- 8+ years of production iOS experience.
- Staff or principal-level scope across multiple teams, or technical leadership of a whole iOS platform or several parallel iOS projects.
- Proven experience with multi-market or white-label applications and shipping a single codebase across markets or brands.
- Deep mobile-architecture expertise, including MVVM, Clean Architecture, SOLID, unidirectional architectures, composable architectures, and deliberate architectural decision-making.
- Deep Swift and modern-concurrency experience, including async/await, structured concurrency, actors, Sendable, cancellation, and introducing Swift 6 strict concurrency into a large mixed codebase.
- Strong UIKit and SwiftUI knowledge with proven incremental migration experience.
- Deep understanding of databases and database migration processes.
- Experience with mobile security, including SSL-pinning trade-offs, App Attest, App Check, DeviceCheck, native OAuth, Keychain, and secrets management.
- Experience with SPM, CocoaPods, hybrid dependency setups, and vendor-locked binary SDKs.
- Experience defining standards, quality gates, testing policy, technical proposals, roadmaps, and technical-debt remediation.
- Strong business judgement, whole-problem thinking, decision-making under ambiguity, and cross-discipline collaboration.
- Strongly desired experience with CI/CD, release automation, GitLab CI, Fastlane, TestFlight, multi-market pipelines, and multi-scheme pipelines.
- Experience with macOS CI infrastructure, Xcode and simulator management, signing, certificates, and reproducible build fleets.
- Experience with XCTest, Swift Testing, snapshot testing, UI-test architecture, accessibility identifiers, and flaky-test control.
- Experience with crash reporting, MetricKit, performance budgets, cold-start measurement, and time-to-home budgets.
- Experience building reusable design-system components and meeting accessibility requirements.
- Familiarity with the Android ecosystem.
- Tuist experience is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with Claude, Copilot, or Grok is a strong plus.
- Experience with Apple Watch, watchOS, CarPlay, App Clips, notification and app extensions, SwiftGen, Sourcery, payments or fintech SDKs, and Instruments is a plus.
