Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and integrate modern C/C++ embedded software running on Linux and RTOS platforms such as FreeRTOS.
  • Own the software development lifecycle from requirements and architecture through implementation, testing, debugging, and deployment.
  • Develop and maintain device drivers for fiber-optic components such as WSS and OCM and other hardware subsystems.
  • Collaborate with hardware teams on schematic reviews, hardware design input, and board bring-up.
  • Work with optical, hardware, test, QA, product management, and manufacturing teams to deliver product milestones and quality goals.
  • Develop and maintain unit tests, automation scripts, and test frameworks to verify and validate firmware functionality.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, documentation, debugging, and embedded system validation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in embedded software or firmware development, preferably in telecommunications or networking.
  • Strong proficiency in modern C/C++ and adherence to C++ best practices and coding standards.
  • Experience with RTOS, low-level debugging, hardware/software integration, embedded communication protocols, and device-driver development.
  • Familiarity with ARM or other microcontroller architectures.
  • Proficiency with Git and collaborative development workflows, including branching, reviews, and CI.
  • Ability to read schematics, use oscilloscopes, and troubleshoot embedded systems.
  • Experience with code reviews, testing, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Preferred experience with ASICs or FPGAs, CMake, Bash, Python, Ruby, Perl, CI/CD pipelines, and optical networking technologies such as OTN and Gigabit Ethernet.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, adaptability, and continuous-learning skills.
