Base Salary
$155k - $205k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the health, uptime, and performance of Oracle and PostgreSQL databases.
- Partner with internal customers to understand challenges and plan improvements.
- Develop automation scripts using Python, bash, or similar languages.
- Engineer and maintain database monitoring systems.
- Provide backup and restore solutions.
- Implement and test disaster recovery strategies.
- Optimize queries to enhance system efficiency.
- Design test conditions and cases for quality assurance.
- Research and troubleshoot data-related questions.
- Collaborate on problem resolution and project planning.
- Develop documentation and support runbooks.
- Document configurations and actions taken on database systems.
- Support the professional growth of database staff through coaching.
- Participate in an on-call rotation.
- Act as a subject matter expert for database design and maintenance.
- Automate database administration tasks and provide self-service solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or engineering, or 10+ years of relevant experience.
- 8+ years of experience in optimizing SQL queries and data replication.
- 8+ years of experience in developing monitoring tools and tuning databases.
- Expertise in at least two database technologies.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
- Experience with highly available solutions and clustered environments.
- Knowledge of configuration management automation.
- Understanding of data structure design and modeling.
- Good knowledge of the development cycle to interface with developers.
- Experience with Oracle RAC, RMAN, and similar technologies.
- Basic support knowledge for MS SQL and Windows Server.
- Experience with GIT and Python.
- Machine learning and Big Data experience are a plus.
