$79k - $210k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and implement horizontally and vertically scalable distributed-system components for large-scale retrieval, storage, and processing.
- Build fault-tolerant systems using redundancy, replication, automatic failover, retries, circuit breakers, timeouts, and recovery-oriented design.
- Develop and execute performance, load, fault-injection, brown-out, functional, and correctness testing.
- Create and maintain alarms, dashboards, telemetry, alerting, runbooks, and operational procedures.
- Diagnose and resolve operational issues, participate in support rotations and incident response, and conduct root-cause investigations.
- Develop automation scripts and Infrastructure as Code tooling for troubleshooting, maintenance, and cloud infrastructure management.
- Apply encryption, access controls, security remediation, compliance practices, and up-to-date technical documentation.
- Review team implementations for scalability and contribute to planning, prioritization, collaboration, problem solving, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Experience designing and implementing distributed systems with scalability, resiliency, operability, replication, synchronization, and high-volume data processing needs.
- Ability to implement performance and load testing, fault-tolerance mechanisms, monitoring, alerting, and recovery procedures.
- Experience troubleshooting production systems, creating automation and operational tooling, and participating in incident response and root-cause analysis.
- Knowledge of advanced security controls such as encryption and access management in multi-tenant cloud environments.
- Ability to work across teams, manage timelines with minimal supervision, analyze complex issues, and contribute to engineering best practices.
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure compliance, documentation, change management, patching, updates, and rollback procedures.
