Responsibilities
- Prepare technical design specifications and written knowledge-transfer materials.
- Review functional requirements, analysis, and design documents and provide feedback.
- Implement, test, maintain, support, and enhance software based on technical specifications.
- Lead architecture, design, implementation, and review activities for scalable web services and SaaS products.
- Improve system quality by identifying issues and patterns, developing standard procedures, and maintaining existing codebases.
- Conduct peer reviews, investigate relevant technologies, and assist customer support with technical problems.
- Provide technical direction, lead project work, mentor less-experienced developers, and make independent technical decisions.
- Collaborate with colleagues, product management, customer support, and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Drive cloud, DevOps, AI, and automation modernization initiatives and translate innovation into business and productivity impact.
Requirements
- At least 12 years of professional experience is required, including 10 or more years developing Java enterprise software and systems for large business environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; a master’s degree is a plus.
- At least 10 years of experience developing mission-critical, low-latency solutions and at least 5 years developing and debugging distributed systems and cloud-based big data systems.
- Strong object-oriented design and service-oriented architecture principles, with the ability to implement them in Java or another programming language.
- Strong experience leading the architecture, design, and implementation of robust, highly scalable web services.
- Experience with AWS and/or Azure SaaS infrastructure, cloud and DevOps technologies, and extensive debugging.
- Understanding of unit, test-driven, functional, and performance testing.
- Experience with React, Pulsar event buses, Snowflake, database systems, data architecture, software security practices, and shell scripting is preferred or beneficial.
- Understanding of big data, machine learning, LLMs, automation, and engineering toolchains.
- Demonstrated ability to lead modernization initiatives, operate across strategic and detailed technical levels, communicate effectively, and mentor developers.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, presentation, facilitation, customer-focus, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
