Base Salary
$145k - $170k/yr
Responsibilities
- Conduct R&D in quantum compilation, execution, and fault-tolerant quantum computing.
- Design and implement software interfaces and intermediate representations translating quantum circuits into executable control-system programs.
- Connect quantum error-correction circuits with decoding and execution systems, including measurement, syndrome, decoder, and Pauli-frame data.
- Collaborate with hardware, control, experimental, and software teams on stable interfaces and practical implementations.
- Build tooling to validate, simulate, test, and debug circuit-to-control translations and execution results.
- Deploy software optimizations to the Superstaq cloud platform using documentation, linting, testing, type checking, and code review.
- Contribute to government and commercial proposals and global program execution.
- Publish research findings, present at conferences, and provide guidance to team members.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, physics, or a directly related field.
- High programming proficiency, preferably with Python, or proficiency in C++, Rust, or another systems-oriented language with the ability to learn Python quickly.
- Experience designing, building, or maintaining complex software systems such as compilers, intermediate representations, runtimes, simulators, distributed systems, embedded/control software, or performance-critical scientific software.
- Ability to reason about software interfaces, data models, APIs, and abstraction, performance, and maintainability tradeoffs.
- Experience with software testing and debugging, including unit tests, integration tests, type checking, version control, and CI/CD practices.
- Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and ability to learn complex technical topics quickly.
- Preferred experience includes compiler infrastructure, scheduling, instruction selection, program analysis, code generation, real-time or hardware-control software, quantum error correction, decoders, stabilizer simulation, or fault tolerance.
- Preferred experience includes Cirq, Qiskit, Stim, high-performance computing, GPU-accelerated or distributed systems, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, SQLAlchemy, GCP, AWS, security practices, HTML/CSS, React, or PyQt.
- Ability to work in the office three days per week and travel domestically and potentially internationally up to 10%.
