Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, troubleshoot, review, and debug secure, high-quality production software.
  • Own the public JPMorgan Payments GitHub organization, including repository hygiene, ownership, licensing, CI, dependency currency, releases, and external issues and contributions.
  • Maintain and evolve public repositories including agent skills and an MCP server for integrating with JPMorgan Payments capabilities.
  • Build governed, repeatable workflows for publishing SDKs and libraries from internal repositories to public package managers.
  • Lead adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices, including validation for correctness, performance, and security.
  • Improve software operational stability by automating recurring issue remediation and improving automation outcomes.
  • Evaluate external vendors, startups, and internal teams by assessing architectures, technical credentials, and applicability to existing systems.
  • Represent the firm through public repositories, technical writing, conference contributions, documentation, talks, or workshops.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and advanced applied experience.
  • Hands-on experience with system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
  • Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages, including Java and/or Python as indicated by the role title.
  • Experience maintaining public open-source repositories, triaging external issues and contributions, managing releases, and maintaining public quality and security standards.
  • Experience leading approved AI-assisted software development practices and validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
  • Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, data sensitivity, secure input and output handling, resiliency, and security expectations.
  • Proficiency across the Software Development Life Cycle and advanced understanding of application resiliency and security practices.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial services industry IT systems and practical cloud-native experience.
  • Preferred experience publishing to Maven Central, npm, PyPI, CocoaPods, or SPM and operating associated governance and IP reviews.
  • Preferred familiarity with MCP, AI coding assistant packaging, payments APIs, merchant or developer integration journeys, external technical communication, and automated compliance and security gates in CI.
