Base Salary
$130k - $500k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design services and state models for multi-stage workflows spanning automated processing and expert review.
- Build orchestration primitives for retries, failure recovery, idempotency, and auditable state transitions in long-running jobs.
- Integrate model inference into production workflows while preserving debuggability and human oversight.
- Build APIs and tooling for product, operations, and ML teams to operate and debug workflows at scale.
- Own reliability and observability for workflows where silent failures can corrupt results.
- Design, ship, operate, debug, and improve systems end to end in collaboration with product, operations, and ML teams.
Requirements
- Production backend engineering experience.
- Strong judgment about system design, service boundaries, and managing complexity.
- Practical fluency with asynchronous workflows, queues, idempotency, retries, and long-running jobs.
- Ability to translate ambiguous product, operational, and ML constraints into clean, debuggable systems.
- Comfort working with Python, AWS, and Postgres.
- Experience with Temporal or similar workflow engines is preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in ambiguous, fast-paced environments and take ownership of system reliability.
