Responsibilities
- Design and ship REST APIs with defined contracts and versioning.
- Model data and schemas in relational and graph databases.
- Debug customer issues end-to-end and implement preventative measures.
- Optimize performance of SQL queries and caching strategies.
- Build services using Python frameworks and manage background jobs.
- Operate cloud services with Docker and Kubernetes, utilizing AWS resources.
- Instrument systems with custom metrics and set SLOs and alerts.
- Collaborate with frontend and research teams to deliver features.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience building backend systems and shipping REST APIs.
- Strong Python fundamentals and experience with async programming.
- Solid data modeling and SQL skills, particularly in Postgres/MySQL.
- Experience with graph databases like Neo4j or Amazon Neptune.
- Comfortable running services on AWS with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Demonstrated ability in root-cause analysis and incident management.
- Clear communication skills and effective collaboration with teams.
