Base Salary
$140k - $185k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build backend systems for fantasy contests, Sleeper Picks, user profiles, leaderboards, and real-time user experiences.
- Develop scalable distributed systems supporting millions of concurrent users with low latency and high availability.
- Own backend initiatives from concept through deployment, including clean interfaces, documentation, and resilient infrastructure.
- Optimize performance and address bottlenecks through monitoring, profiling, and capacity planning.
- Collaborate with product, design, and frontend teams to deliver user-facing features.
- Contribute to code reviews and improve backend engineering standards and practices.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of backend software engineering experience.
- Demonstrated ability to build and scale distributed systems serving millions of users in real-time or gaming environments.
- Strong proficiency in one or more backend languages, such as Go, Python, Node.js, or Java, with an understanding of their trade-offs.
- Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases, caching strategies, and message queues such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Pub/Sub.
- Experience designing and maintaining RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs, data models, and internal tooling.
- Cloud experience with AWS, GCP, or similar services, plus familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Strong product mindset and excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Proficiency in Elixir is a bonus.
- Passion for sports, gaming, multiplayer systems, or real-time systems is a bonus.
