Base Salary

$174k - $252k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Develop methodologies for understanding user interests and techniques for content retrieval.
  • Collaborate with partners and teammates to identify user problems and personalization opportunities.
  • Generate reliable, scalable training data from large-scale user data.
  • Implement and experiment with machine learning algorithms and architectures, including LLMs, deep learning, and distillation.
  • Evaluate and improve model quality through evaluations, demonstrations, and live experiments.
  • Use user-understanding models to retrieve articles, posts, videos, AI-generated content, and other content formats.
  • Integrate models and components with the Discover stack for system efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Own projects from ideation through implementation, analysis, and maintenance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 5 years of software development experience in Python.
  • At least 3 years of experience building and deploying production recommendation-system models for retrieval, prediction, ranking, personalization, search quality, or embeddings.
  • At least 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products.
  • At least 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
  • Preferred: master’s degree or PhD in computer science or a related technical field.
  • Preferred: 3 years of experience developing and optimizing deep learning algorithms and architectures.
  • Preferred: 3 years of experience with machine learning algorithms and tools such as JAX and TensorFlow, including deep learning, natural language processing, LLM-based applications, and LLM fine-tuning.
  • Experience with user understanding and personalization and strong mathematical, problem-solving, logical, and investigative skills.

Benefits

  • US base salary is $174000-$252000, plus a 15% bonus target, equity, and benefits.
