Base Salary
$209k - $283k/yr
Responsibilities
- Architect and implement modular robotics software integrating sensing, state estimation, planning, control, and actuation.
- Define interfaces and system boundaries across the autonomy stack, middleware, operating system, and hardware accelerators.
- Lead integration of robotics components into production-ready reference platforms and customer-facing demonstrations.
- Build APIs, SDKs, reusable components, simulation and testing workflows, calibration, logging, replay, update, observability, and diagnostic tools.
- Optimize real-time latency, determinism, memory use, throughput, reliability, and safety across CPUs and heterogeneous accelerators.
- Partner with controls, perception, AI, hardware, product, and customer teams to define requirements and architecture.
- Lead design reviews, mentor engineers, resolve cross-stack technical issues, and contribute documentation, examples, and upstream improvements.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience designing and building robotics, autonomous systems, or embedded software used in real-world environments.
- Proficiency in modern C++ and Python, with strong software design, debugging, and code-quality practices.
- Strong understanding of robotics middleware and communication patterns, including ROS 2 or comparable systems.
- Strong understanding of coordinate frames, timing, synchronization, calibration, sensor and actuator interfaces, Linux-based and real-time systems, concurrency, IPC, and distributed component lifecycles.
- 3+ years of experience leading architecture or integration work across multiple parts of a robotics stack.
- Strong fundamentals in algorithms, data structures, numerical methods, and performance optimization.
- Ability to diagnose system behavior across application, middleware, operating-system, and hardware layers.
- Experience with navigation, manipulation, motion planning, autonomous mobile robots, simulation, software-in-the-loop, hardware-in-the-loop, or automated robotics testing is preferred.
- Familiarity with AI and perception inference pipelines on embedded or edge systems and heterogeneous computing across CPUs, GPUs, NPUs, or DSPs is preferred.
- Knowledge of functional safety, fault management, secure boot, isolation, or device attestation is preferred.
- Open-source robotics, middleware, driver, developer tooling, partner, or customer experience is preferred.
