Responsibilities
- Design and build distributed microservices for Fortanix’s confidential computing platform.
- Own services end to end, including architecture, APIs, deployment, scaling, and production reliability.
- Drive technical direction and lead system design and API discussions across the platform.
- Write production-grade Rust, C/C++, or similar systems-level code and contribute to code reviews.
- Build secure, resilient, auditable, and maintainable systems across hybrid and multicloud environments.
- Partner with engineering, product, and infrastructure teams on complex cross-functional systems.
- Mentor and guide engineers on system design, code quality, and engineering rigor.
- Contribute to Runtime Encryption® technology and confidential computing services.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering experience with strong backend and distributed systems expertise.
- Experience designing and building microservices from scratch and integrating them into larger architectures.
- Experience owning services through design, development, deployment, scaling, and operations.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, including scalability, reliability, fault tolerance, and data consistency.
- Strong Rust programming experience; C, C++, Go, or similar systems-level languages are also considered.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, containerized environments, AWS, GCP, Azure, and production deployment pipelines.
- Experience working in Linux environments, including debugging and performance tuning.
- Familiarity with SQL/NoSQL data storage, distributed storage, and caching.
- Experience or interest in confidential computing, Trusted Execution Environments, key management, encryption, secure storage, and access control.
- Nice-to-have experience includes performance-critical systems, systems programming, secure AI, privacy-preserving systems, infrastructure platforms, or developer platforms.
