Responsibilities
- Write and maintain SQL functions, scripts, stored procedures, and triggers supporting application development.
- Identify database performance issues, optimize SQL code, and recommend improvements to data-storage solutions.
- Test query results and assess the impact of write operations before production use.
- Participate in database design and architecture, including rational table and data-dictionary design.
- Document database products and objects and produce clean, organized, reusable database code.
- Automate repetitive database engineering tasks and support application-development and maintenance activities.
- Provide on-call support for familiar system areas and collaborate with internal and external partners.
Requirements
- Degree in a related discipline.
- 1–6 years of database programming or database engineering experience.
- Experience with agile product development methodology.
- Excellent SQL programming skills.
- Strong knowledge of database performance optimization and application optimization.
- Working knowledge of database management concepts.
- Applied Microsoft SQL knowledge.
- Ability to understand NoSQL data-source paradigms and implement queries for NoSQL databases.
- PostgreSQL applied knowledge is a plus.
- MySQL applied knowledge is a plus.
- Ability to work with defined tasks, follow development processes, test thoroughly, document work, and operate with limited supervision.
- Good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate in a high-pressure product-development environment.
