Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the satellite on-board software and firmware updating system, including features, maintenance, testing, and documentation.
- Contribute to shared build infrastructure so flight software repositories are built, versioned, and packaged consistently.
- Harden packaging and signing pipelines using immutable releases, least-privilege permissions, pinned workflows and dependencies, approvals, and secure signing-key management.
- Collaborate with the Linux platform team on package formats, filesystem layouts, access control, and safe software installation on satellite computers.
Requirements
- Hands-on embedded Linux development experience, including cross-compilation for ARM or similar targets, kernel configuration, device tree overlays, root filesystem construction, and image creation.
- Production CI/CD experience for compiled artifacts, with GitHub Actions specifically required.
- Working proficiency in C and C++ build environments and Python and Bash automation.
- Experience with release-integrity controls and immutable artifact storage; signing-key management, PKI, trust chains, AWS object-lock storage, and cloud key management are valuable.
- Experience shipping software to fielded embedded devices through package-based update mechanisms, ideally opkg, under controlled release processes, quality gates, and formal sign-off.
- Preferred experience with CMake, multi-repository setups, toolchain files, shared build infrastructure, and Buildroot.
