Responsibilities
- Engineer, administer, and enhance mainframe application lifecycle and deployment platforms, including Broadcom Endeavor or equivalent SCM technology.
- Design and maintain source, build, promotion, and deployment pathways with appropriate environments, stages, approvals, and release controls.
- Automate build, packaging, and deployment processes across COBOL, PL/I, Assembler, and JCL.
- Improve Endeavor processors, exits, and integrations with enterprise engineering tooling.
- Diagnose complex build, promotion, and deployment issues across development, test, and production environments.
- Strengthen release integrity through versioning, traceability, reproducible builds, deployment evidence, rollback capability, and audit controls.
- Reduce manual activity through APIs, scripting, and automation while integrating established SCM controls with Git and CI/CD.
- Identify ways to simplify and modernize legacy delivery practices without compromising resilience or production control.
- Collaborate with application development, platform engineering, testing, infrastructure, and operations teams.
Requirements
- Strong mainframe foundations across IBM z/OS, JCL, TSO/E, ISPF, JES2/SDSF, data sets, and USS.
- Experience with Broadcom Endeavor or comparable mainframe SCM, application lifecycle, or deployment technology.
- Understanding of application build and release processes, including compilers, binders/link-editors, packaging, promotion, deployment, and recovery.
- Exposure to Db2, CICS, IMS, MQ, RACF, or similar enterprise mainframe environments.
- Ability to automate using Python, REXX, shell scripting, APIs, or CLI-based tooling.
- Exposure to Git, CI/CD, Zowe, z/OSMF, automated testing, and quality gates.
- Methodical troubleshooting skills for complex build and deployment problems and a continuous improvement mindset.
- Ability to collaborate across development, testing, infrastructure, and operations while balancing delivery speed with production controls.
