Base Salary
$174k - $252k/yr
Responsibilities
- Write and test product or system development code.
- Assess threats to Gmail users from emerging technologies such as GenAI and design safeguards.
- Drive improvements through machine learning algorithms and systems innovations.
- Design, run, and evaluate experiments for training GenAI models to improve Gmail abuse detection.
- Build production-ready ML systems that are high-performing and scalable.
- Develop ML signals, techniques, and infrastructure to protect Gmail users and enterprise customers.
- Collaborate with research, engineering, data science, product, and operations teams to respond to abuse trends and risks.
- Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- Five years of software development experience in one or more programming languages.
- Three years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products and one year of software design and architecture experience.
- Three years of experience with ML infrastructure, including areas such as model deployment, model evaluation, optimization, data processing, or debugging.
- One year of experience with state-of-the-art GenAI techniques or GenAI-related concepts such as LLMs, multimodal systems, large vision models, language modeling, or computer vision.
- Experience with data analysis, statistical modeling, and translating complex data into actionable insights.
- Preferred: Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Preferred: Five years of applied machine learning experience on teams responsible for business metrics on user-facing products.
- Preferred: Three years of experience in complex, matrixed organizations involving cross-functional or cross-business projects.
- Preferred: One year of experience in a technical leadership role.
- Preferred: Background in safety, abuse-fighting, or integrity at an Internet company.
