Responsibilities
- Work with a team of senior/staff engineers to build the foundation for AI features.
- Define and drive Betterment's AI platform strategy, including shared infrastructure and evaluation frameworks.
- Lead projects that expand the organization's AI technical capabilities.
- Collaborate with product teams to deploy customer-facing AI functionality.
- Partner with legal and compliance leaders to ensure responsible AI development.
- Mentor and grow senior engineers to enhance their impact.
Requirements
- Strong technical lead with a strategic vision for AI systems.
- Deep expertise in LLM systems, including prompt engineering and evaluation.
- Experience operating AI features in production with quality assurance.
- Ability to stay current with emerging AI tools and techniques.
- Clear judgment on AI deployment in production environments.
- Proven track record of leading successful cross-team projects.
- Fullstack development experience with technologies like React and server-side languages.
- Experience in making build vs buy decisions.
- Ability to build trust across teams and disciplines.
- Principled approach to balancing speed and quality in AI development.
