Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, design, and evolution of system-level firmware platforms for industrial automation products.
- Establish firmware technology roadmaps, architecture strategies, and reusable framework programs across product families.
- Design and implement firmware subsystems optimizing performance, memory use, reliability, maintainability, security, and scalability.
- Integrate embedded firmware, communication protocols, operating systems, networking stacks, and cybersecurity technologies.
- Define system interfaces and architecture requirements across firmware, hardware, systems, safety, and cybersecurity domains.
- Lead architecture reviews, design reviews, technical risk assessments, and investigations into complex system-level issues.
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to firmware engineers and technical leads across multiple teams.
- Collaborate with global partners and represent the company in discussions with customers, external partners, certification bodies, and industry working groups.
- Influence engineering processes, CI/CD practices, and software quality initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering with a firmware concentration, or equivalent.
- At least 7 years of experience in embedded system firmware development, including real-time firmware systems and device drivers.
- Experience programming with C/C++ or another mid- to high-level language.
- Experience with Green Hills Integrity OS and Multi IDE, TCP/IP networking, Git or similar version control tools, CI/CD pipelines, Jira, and Jama.
- Familiarity with real-time operating systems is required; FreeRTOS or Zephyr experience is preferred.
- Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree or equivalent in-depth knowledge and experience, Python expertise, cybersecurity training or certification, and familiarity with CIP and CIP Security protocols.
- Ability to develop high-quality maintainable firmware, organize and direct activities of other employees, communicate complex technical information clearly, and collaborate with globally distributed teams.
