Staff Software Engineer

- Lead architecture and implementation of robust, scalable backend systems, including API design, data modeling, and service infrastructure.
- Contribute to front-end architecture and implementation with a focus on performance, scalability, and integration with backend services.
- Participate in code and architecture reviews and define and evolve engineering standards.
- Work primarily in modern JavaScript and AWS services while mentoring peers.
- Evaluate industry trends, identify business risks, and propose mitigations.
- Lead engineering initiatives, break solutions into meaningful tasks, and execute or delegate work.
- Advance products from proofs of concept and prototypes to production releases.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field and 8+ years of relevant experience.
- Proven ability to drive engineering-culture changes through evangelism and structured processes.
- Strong experience designing, deploying, and operating applications on AWS, with command-line proficiency and familiarity with Git and Docker in AWS-based pipelines.
- Extensive experience with modern JavaScript, responsive UIs, scalable services, contemporary frameworks, state management, and API integration.
- Deep hands-on familiarity with client- and server-side technologies, software data structures, and algorithms.
- Ability to lead teams toward goals through technical discussion, proposals, and task planning.
- Commitment to continued professional growth along an individual-contributor path.
- Experience with Kanban or Scrum teams, project management tools, open-source participation, interviewing, and talent acquisition is preferred.
