Base Salary
$123k - $160k/yr
Responsibilities
- Create software architecture for real-time, fault-tolerant control of a 20kW+ spacecraft.
- Develop software applications controlling propulsion, guidance and attitude control, thermal, power, and communications subsystems.
- Design and implement state machines for robust spacecraft operation.
- Author drivers for microcontroller peripherals and external sensors.
- Create and use tools that enable rapid deployment of quality software.
- Perform data analysis and anomaly investigations to identify and resolve software bugs.
- Support spacecraft subsystem integration and testing.
- Build and maintain infrastructure that improves reliability during software development and testing.
- Develop and verify software using software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop simulators, operating the software on multiple spacecraft.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, mathematics, or another STEM discipline, or 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Development experience in Rust.
- Preferred experience includes spacecraft flight software development, Linux systems programming and driver development, continuous integration and continuous delivery systems, and hard real-time embedded systems using bare-metal or RTOS environments.
- Preferred experience includes authoring no_std systems in Rust, working with state machines, software verification and testing, performance analysis and debugging, production Rust environments, and fault-tolerant software design.
- Preferred knowledge includes electronics, computer architecture, and control systems.
- Preferred experience includes defining and creating test systems for hardware-in-the-loop and hardware-out-of-the-loop environments.
- The hired candidate must be a U.S. person under ITAR or otherwise eligible for a federally issued export control license.
