Senior Staff Prototyping Engineer, iOS

Responsibilities
- Lead engineering development for mobile experiences used by millions of Slack users.
- Lead complex, ambiguous, cross-functional initiatives from technical exploration through production rollout and long-term evolution.
- Prototype and define mobile user experiences for major product opportunities.
- Partner with Product and Design to balance user needs, technical constraints, and maintainability.
- Influence engineering decisions through technical leadership, product reviews, and mentorship.
- Establish and promote mobile feature development and operational excellence practices.
- Mentor senior engineers and contribute to the broader mobile engineering community.
Requirements
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant experience building complex iOS applications at scale.
- Proven ability to initiate new work across organizational boundaries, prototype paths to production, and align organizations around new initiatives.
- Experience in fast-paced startup, incubator, or zero-to-one environments.
- Track record leading large, ambiguous, organization-spanning technical initiatives with significant business impact.
- Deep expertise in Swift frameworks and modern iOS development.
- Strong knowledge of iOS architecture, application lifecycle, concurrency, networking, and performance optimization.
- Ability to influence product and technical direction and align executive stakeholders, Engineering, Product, Design, and multiple teams.
- Experience with Combine, Swift Concurrency including async/await and actors, and dependency injection frameworks such as Needle or Resolver is preferred.
- Experience leading large-scale products, features, or product transformations across multiple teams or an entire organization is preferred.
- Experience using research, usability testing, data, and experimentation to guide decisions is preferred.
- Open source or iOS community contributions, external technical leadership recognition, and experience with collaboration, productivity, messaging, AI, or enterprise software products are preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, strong product intuition, and passion for exceptional user experiences.
