Responsibilities
- Design and develop complex features, enhancements, and technical solutions across FactSet applications.
- Own development work from technical design through implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Translate business requirements into scalable and maintainable software solutions in collaboration with Product Development.
- Evaluate and improve application performance, stability, scalability, reliability, and technical health.
- Diagnose complex production issues and identify preventative improvements.
- Break down technical requirements into development tasks and deliverables.
- Prioritize and resolve production and development issues with Product Development.
- Promote engineering best practices through code reviews, automated testing, documentation, and technical design.
- Provide technical guidance to less-experienced engineers through reviews, troubleshooting, and collaboration.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of hands-on software engineering industry experience.
- Strong Python proficiency and experience building production-grade, client-facing systems.
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, software design patterns, and maintainable application architecture.
- Experience designing and building backend services and APIs.
- Strong JavaScript and TypeScript experience for modern web applications.
- Experience with frontend frameworks such as Vue.js, Angular, or React.
- Hands-on experience with testing frameworks including Jasmine, Karma, Puppeteer, pytest, and unittest.
- Strong database design skills and hands-on PostgreSQL experience, including schema design, query optimization, indexing, and relational data modeling at scale.
- Experience working with large datasets using Polars or equivalent dataframe libraries.
- Experience implementing caching strategies and developing applications composed of multiple interconnected services.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex issues across multiple application components.
- Experience independently delivering complex technical work while collaborating with Product and Engineering partners.
- B.Tech or M.Tech in Computer Science or equivalent educational background.
- Preferred experience includes AWS services such as SQS, Lambda, and ECS; microservices and distributed systems; resiliency and failure handling; parallel or asynchronous workflows; large-scale data systems; multi-tier architectures; rate limiting and quota management; D3.js; and Neo4j.
