Responsibilities
- Define cloud security standards, guardrails, and reference architectures for Infrastructure, SRE, and Product Engineering.
- Set the roadmap for high-impact cloud security work and lead cross-functional security initiatives from scope through delivery.
- Mentor and uplevel security and platform engineers through pairing, design reviews, and feedback.
- Own threat modeling and secure-by-default architecture practices for new cloud technologies, services, and patterns.
- Set AWS and GCP control-plane and IAM security strategy, including identity providers, RBAC, and least privilege.
- Design cloud threat detections and SIEM rules and own detection coverage end to end.
- Serve as a senior incident responder and cloud-forensics lead and convert investigations into IR playbooks and preventative controls.
- Own security tooling including CrowdStrike, Tenable, and native cloud security services, along with cloud vulnerability management.
- Own security for self-managed Kubernetes control planes, nodes, workloads, admission control, runtime environments, and CI/CD supply chains.
- Set Infrastructure-as-Code and pipeline security standards, preferably using Terraform.
- Establish patch management, base-image hardening, and version-management practices across containerized and VM-based environments.
- Lead security practices for large-scale distributed systems and self-managed data stores such as MongoDB.
Requirements
- Several years of production cloud security ownership, including on-call responsibility.
- Hands-on experience with AWS as the primary cloud, GCP, and self-managed Kubernetes.
- Ability to read and write Python and Terraform.
- Experience with secure architecture, threat modeling, IAM, detection engineering, incident response, cloud forensics, Kubernetes security, vulnerability management, and infrastructure security.
- Ability to lead through technical depth and influence as a senior individual contributor.
