$267k - $297k/yr
Responsibilities
- Shape the multi-year technical roadmap, system abstractions, and architectural vision for the Core Services organization.
- Design robust, highly available backend solutions using distributed-systems and algorithmic expertise.
- Set organization-wide backend architecture guidelines and raise engineering capability across teams.
- Own end-to-end platform systems, including high-concurrency microservices, load testing, observability, and zero-downtime production rollouts.
- Work across teams to productionize mission-critical platform solutions at scale.
Requirements
- 10+ years of industry experience architecting, building, and operating high-throughput backend services and distributed systems in production.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Deep expertise in distributed-system design, multi-tenant architectures, and high-concurrency paradigms.
- Experience applying caching strategies, event-driven patterns, database optimization, and high-availability design to large-scale systems.
- Experience with modern backend programming languages such as Go, Java, C++, Rust, or Python; asynchronous message platforms such as Kafka; gRPC/REST APIs; and enterprise cloud or orchestration infrastructure.
- Preferred: Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Preferred: Experience with zero-downtime platform migrations, multi-region active-active deployments, or global disaster recovery at extreme scale.
- Preferred: Deep knowledge of foundational core platforms such as API gateways, service meshes, Auth/Identity systems, or event-streaming platforms.

- Base salary is USD $267,000–$297,000 per year for San Francisco and Sunnyvale, California-based roles.
