Responsibilities
- Design, develop, maintain, debug, optimize, and support enterprise-grade mainframe applications.
- Develop and enhance applications using PL/I, COBOL, JCL, CICS, and IBM z/OS for online and batch processing.
- Analyze legacy applications and data architectures for modernization and migration initiatives, including reverse engineering and dependency mapping.
- Create low-level technical designs, module dependency maps, interface specifications, data-flow analysis, and solution documentation.
- Work with VSAM datasets, Datacom/Broadcom Datacom, and IBM DB2 to analyze data access, reconciliation, and validation.
- Perform unit testing and support SIT, UAT, defect resolution, release deployments, production cutovers, and post-implementation monitoring.
- Collaborate with architects, business analysts, QA, production support teams, and stakeholders while providing technical guidance to junior team members.
Requirements
- 6-8 years of experience delivering, modernizing, and supporting mission-critical mainframe applications.
- Any graduation degree.
- Strong hands-on experience with PL/I, COBOL, JCL, CICS, IBM z/OS, and online and batch transaction processing.
- Extensive experience with VSAM, including KSDS, ESDS, and RRDS, plus Datacom/Broadcom Datacom and IBM DB2.
- Experience with legacy code analysis, reverse engineering, application dependency mapping, data-flow analysis, technical design, performance optimization, testing, and root-cause analysis.
- Experience with requirements analysis, low-level design documentation, SIT/UAT support, production support, release implementation, deployment, and incident management.
- Preferred experience with Datacom-to-VSAM migrations, legacy database modernization, VSAM file optimization, high-volume batch processing, data reconciliation, controlled production cutovers, and regulated industries such as banking, financial services, or insurance.
