Base Salary
$185k - $200k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Pebble, CockroachDB’s Log Structured Merge storage engine.
- Build higher-layer storage features and MVCC APIs for CockroachDB.
- Improve CockroachDB performance, scalability, survivability, consistency, and reliability.
- Contribute to the development, operation, and troubleshooting of Cockroach Cloud storage offerings.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and other teams across the cloud and database organizations.
- Use AI-assisted development workflows while retaining final authority and accountability for production output.
Requirements
- Experience working on complex technical products with exposure to distributed systems, concurrency control, file systems, data replication, or memory management.
- Comfort using Go, C, C++, Java, or Python; Go is the primary language used by the team.
- Strong product architecture knowledge and understanding of how team interactions affect architecture.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience is ideal.
- Ability to use AI as an augmentation tool while maintaining correctness, reliability, system integrity, and production quality.
- BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- Preferred experience with storage systems such as Log-Structured Merge Trees or Pebble.
- Preferred experience building, operating, and debugging large-scale distributed systems in production.
