Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture and evolution of Databricks platforms supporting customer operations, analytics, automation, and AI.
- Design, build, review, and optimize scalable batch and streaming data pipelines and reusable data products.
- Establish data architecture, modeling, quality, governance, lineage, access, observability, and reliability standards using Databricks and Unity Catalog.
- Build and improve Databricks Genie spaces, semantic models, trusted metrics, verified queries, permissions, and answer evaluation.
- Apply analytics, machine learning, NLP, generative AI, forecasting, and conversational AI to operational use cases.
- Partner with Product, Operations, Workforce Management, Engineering, and AI teams to deliver scalable data and intelligence solutions.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership through design reviews, coding, troubleshooting, platform optimization, and engineering standards.
- Coach and mentor engineers and data scientists, and manage individual contributors when required.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience with Databricks, Spark/PySpark, Delta Lake, cloud data platforms, and enterprise-scale data pipelines.
- Experience designing and operating governed Databricks lakehouse architectures with semantic layers, trusted metrics, data quality, and role-based access.
- Experience building and operating Databricks Genie or comparable natural-language analytics experiences.
- Experience with Unity Catalog, lineage, access controls, CI/CD, monitoring, observability, version control, automated testing, DevOps, and production support.
- Experience integrating structured and unstructured data from multiple enterprise systems through batch and streaming pipelines.
- Experience developing AI and machine-learning solutions in Python, including NLP, conversational AI, forecasting, embeddings/vector search, generative AI, or AI performance measurement.
- Understanding of evaluating AI-generated answers for accuracy, grounding, freshness, access compliance, and business usefulness.
- Experience building analytics and reporting solutions for business and executive users.
- Proven technical leadership with the ability to lead complex initiatives, make architecture trade-offs, and communicate with technical and business stakeholders.
- Experience coaching, mentoring, or managing engineers or data scientists.
- Preferred experience with Databricks AI/BI, Mosaic AI, Vector Search, MLflow, model serving, LLM orchestration, RAG, prompt engineering, AI-assisted automation, Kubernetes, Docker, GitLab/GitHub CI/CD, Terraform, modern ML deployment frameworks, and enterprise customer operations.
- Familiarity with Zendesk, Five9, Amelia, workforce management platforms, or conversational AI ecosystems is preferred.
