Base Salary
$150k - $200k/yr
Responsibilities
- Write and ship production AI code as an active daily contributor.
- Lead semantic retrieval, indexing, and knowledge-graph work to make customer context rapidly retrievable across the data platform.
- Build inference and signal layers that read from the Iceberg-based lakehouse, write scored inferences, and expose reusable contracts.
- Turn detected conditions such as churn risk, usage and entitlement mismatch, and expansion opportunities into workflows with appropriate human review.
- Select large models, fine-tuned models, or deterministic code for each workload while managing inference cost.
- Own evaluation and observability for AI systems, including demonstrating signal quality before actions are taken.
- Establish shared engineering patterns and collaborate with engineering and business leaders to turn company goals into shipped systems.
- Develop shared data or ML capabilities that other teams can build on and mentor through high-quality code and system design.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years shipping AI or ML systems to production.
- Strong programming fundamentals and deep proficiency in at least one language used for AI and data work; Python is the primary ML and insights language.
- Advanced SQL and experience with data at scale, transformation layers such as dbt, distributed query engines, lakehouse or warehouse storage, query cost, and partitioning.
- Production experience with embeddings, vector search, hybrid or graph retrieval, context engineering, and measuring retrieval quality.
- Production experience building agentic systems and durable workflows with tool calling, state, memory, and human-in-the-loop patterns; Temporal and LangGraph are used, with equivalent experience accepted.
- Experience with AI-system evaluation and observability, including tracing, prompt and version management, and dataset-driven testing.
- Cloud deployment experience, preferably AWS, with containerized services and ownership of inference cost.
- B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- Preferred experience establishing shared data or ML capabilities, fine-tuning or distilling task-specific models, and operating high-volume observability data.
- Preferred familiarity with OpenTelemetry, access control, data lineage, data residency, enterprise SaaS or CMS, and Acquia’s Drupal-based DXP.
- Preferred fluency with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude, Cursor, and Copilot, and MCP or similar agent-to-system connectivity.
- Strong communication skills for presenting AI system designs to engineers and C-suite stakeholders, plus a senior IC track record and organic mentoring ability.
Benefits
- Competitive healthcare coverage.
- Wellness programs.
- Take-it-when-you-need-it time off.
- Parental leave.
- Recognition programs.
- Additional employee and family benefits are provided.
- The role is a hands-on production engineering position; no remote, hybrid, office, or contract logistics are stated.
