Responsibilities
- Write and ship production AI code as an active daily contributor.
- Lead semantic retrieval, indexing, and knowledge-graph work to make customer context rapidly retrievable.
- Build inference and signal layers over the Iceberg-based lakehouse and expose signals through contracts for other teams.
- Turn detected conditions such as churn risk, entitlement mismatches, and expansion opportunities into workflows with appropriate human review.
- Select and manage large models, fine-tuned models, and deterministic code while controlling inference cost.
- Own evaluation and observability for AI systems and establish engineering patterns for other teams.
- Translate company goals into shipped systems while collaborating with product, platform, engineering, and business leaders.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years shipping AI or ML systems to production.
- Strong programming fundamentals and deep proficiency in at least one AI or data-work language, with Python as the primary ML and insights language.
- Advanced SQL, experience with a transformation layer such as dbt, and experience with distributed query engines over lakehouse or warehouse storage, including query-cost and partitioning considerations.
- Production experience with embeddings, vector search, hybrid or graph retrieval, context engineering, and evaluating retrieval quality.
- Production experience with agentic systems and durable workflows involving tool calling, state, memory, and human-in-the-loop patterns.
- Experience with AI-system evaluation and observability, including tracing, prompt and version management, and dataset-driven testing.
- Cloud deployment experience, preferably AWS, with containerized services and responsibility for inference cost.
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- Preferred experience standing up shared data or ML capabilities, developing small or fine-tuned models, and distilling task-specific models.
- Preferred fluency with high-volume observability data, OpenTelemetry, data governance, enterprise SaaS or CMS, Drupal-based DXP environments, and agent-connected systems using MCP or similar tools.
- Strong communication skills for presenting AI system designs to engineers and C-suite stakeholders, plus a senior individual-contributor track record with organic mentoring.
