Base Salary
$176k - $220k/yr
Responsibilities
- Shape long-term system architecture while balancing short-term functionality and long-term health
- Translate business goals into engineering projects and own the technical roadmap through delivery
- Manage cross-team dependencies, mitigate risks, and drive alignment across product, design, and operations
- Improve observability, performance, system health, and technical debt across the organization
- Establish deployment, alerting, and on-call best practices and improve platform stability
- Resolve bottlenecks and make architectural trade-offs across competing priorities
- Mentor engineers, delegate stretch opportunities, lead cross-team reviews, and promote technical excellence
- Conduct high-bar interviews and participate in Lyft’s broader engineering community
Requirements
- BS/MS or equivalent in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 8+ years of software engineering industry experience with a proven track record of technical leadership and system ownership
- Deep expertise designing, debugging, and operating fault-tolerant, highly available, large-scale distributed systems
- Experience driving technical roadmaps, managing cross-team dependencies, and influencing system architecture at an organizational level
- Knowledge of distributed systems, relational databases, and NoSQL databases
- Experience with public cloud platforms and modern container orchestration technologies
- Ability to communicate complex technical trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Collaborative, low-ego approach with a focus on supporting and developing other engineers
