Responsibilities
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, operation, and maintenance.
- Build reliable backend services, APIs, automation tools, and data-processing pipelines using Python and cloud technologies.
- Partner with engineering, repository-owner, and platform teams to improve shared tooling, standards, and developer productivity.
- Improve system maintainability, observability, diagnosability, performance, and reliability.
- Investigate and resolve issues affecting development workflows, pre-production environments, and production services.
- Develop frameworks and standards for detecting, isolating, and remediating software and test failures.
- Write automated tests, technical documentation, operational guidance, and runbooks.
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule for service and integration issues.
Requirements
- Professional software development experience and solid knowledge of software engineering principles and practices.
- Proficiency in Python and experience building maintainable, well-tested applications or services.
- Experience with backend services, REST APIs, automation tools, data pipelines, or internal platforms.
- Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform, including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Familiarity with containers, serverless computing, managed services, infrastructure as code, or Kubernetes.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, source control systems, automated testing, or related engineering infrastructure.
- Understanding of distributed-system concepts and API or service design.
- Experience writing automated tests and supporting software in production or production-like environments.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills using logs, metrics, traces, and other diagnostic tools.
- Ability to write clear technical documentation and collaborate with engineers and stakeholders across teams.
- Ability to work independently on well-defined projects while seeking guidance and feedback when appropriate.
- Experience with developer productivity, developer platforms, software development lifecycle tooling, or engineering quality initiatives is preferred.
