Responsibilities
- Lead development and scaling of the ML-powered document extraction engine.
- Architect backend systems with performance and scalability in mind.
- Build and deploy automation features for tax firms.
- Own backend architecture and infrastructure decisions.
- Collaborate with founders on product and user needs.
- Help define engineering culture and the technical roadmap.
Requirements
- 1–5 years of experience, ideally in high-ownership or early-stage environments.
- Strong backend development skills, particularly in Python.
- Proven 0-to-1 building experience through side projects, startup experience, or both.
- Experience with LLMs, OCR, or data extraction systems is preferred.
- Exposure to AI infrastructure or evaluation frameworks is preferred.
- Willingness to work from the San Francisco office five days per week.
- Willingness to complete a technical take-home exercise.
