Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to machine learning engineers by driving designs, reviews, best practices, and quality standards.
  • Develop technical strategy for content-based embeddings and advertising relevance in collaboration with team and organizational leadership.
  • Develop and iterate on embedding models for advertising use cases, including aggregation pipelines, two-tower architectures, and sequence models.
  • Use local and third-party LLMs and VLMs to extract representations, develop evaluation methods, prompt tune, and fine-tune large models.
  • Build data processing and inference pipelines for machine learning models.
  • Evaluate features through qualitative and quantitative analysis, internal benchmarks, recommender-system offline metrics, and online experiments.
  • Improve the reliability, scalability, and performance of ML systems through automated testing, monitoring, and model-management practices.
  • Review modeling and coding work and collaborate cross-functionally to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience designing, training, evaluating, testing, and deploying industry-level machine learning models.
  • Staff-level technical leadership experience mentoring engineers, establishing standards, and leading complex cross-functional projects without direct people-management authority.
  • Strong communication skills for translating complex technical concepts to varied audiences.
  • A strong track record working on large-scale, content-rich NLP or computer vision problems and using embeddings to solve them.
  • A data-driven approach to machine learning system development and willingness to investigate underlying metrics.
  • Familiarity with the advertising domain and/or search or recommender systems.
  • Experience with mainstream deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
  • Preferred experience with Python, Airflow, BigQuery, Ray, Kubernetes, Kafka, and GCP.
  • Preferred hands-on experience using, fine-tuning, or building large language models.

Benefits

  • Flexible remote work from anywhere in the UK or the Netherlands.
  • Global benefits supporting workspace, professional development, and caregiving.
  • Family planning support, gender-affirming care, and mental health and coaching benefits.
  • Group personal pension scheme with employer matching, private medical and dental coverage, and income replacement programs.
