Base Salary
$176k - $267k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead and support advanced cybersecurity and applied AI research projects for operational technology, critical infrastructure, and Federal networks.
- Develop automated methods for adversarial simulation, vulnerability discovery, malicious behavior analysis, and threat mitigation.
- Analyze novel attacks, TTPs, attack vectors, malware, networks, hosts, and operational technology systems.
- Develop, implement, validate, and document specialized cybersecurity analysis software, models, AI pipelines, and tools.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary scientists and engineers on modeling and simulation for physical, engineering, and computational systems.
- Identify emerging threats, shape cybersecurity technical direction, mentor team members, and engage sponsors and stakeholders.
- Contribute to research proposals, funding efforts, program growth, and mission alignment.
- At the SES.4 level, set research vision and strategy, direct highly complex technical tasks, and influence Laboratory, industry, and policy stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, computer science, information technology, computer engineering, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Advanced experience leading cybersecurity and/or applied AI research and building systems with AI tool pipelines and frameworks.
- Experience in malware analysis, network analysis, host forensics, or a combination of these areas and related tools.
- Advanced knowledge of state-of-the-art AI and cybersecurity technologies and advanced analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to communicate technical information to multidisciplinary teams and non-cyber experts and collaborate effectively across teams.
- Ability to manage concurrent technical tasks with competing priorities and adapt focus as needed.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy Q-level security clearance and Sensitive Compartmented Information access; Q clearance requires U.S. citizenship.
- At the SES.4 level, highly advanced project leadership, technical direction, research vision, proposal-writing, sponsor-funding, and advanced statistical or machine-learning experience are required.
- Preferred qualifications include a master's degree or PhD, knowledge of network protocol analysis, cybersecurity data science, reverse engineering, operational technology implementation, embedded systems, scientific data analysis, systems programming, software engineering, agentic frameworks, high-performance computing, and machine-learning techniques.
- Preferred experience includes industrial control systems software and hardware and work with the Department of Energy, Department of Homeland Security, Department of War, utilities, manufacturing, or cybersecurity firms.
